What an incredible first week back at Elk Valley! Our students and staff have absolutely knocked it out of the park! 👏
Not only did we have a fantastic week of learning, building relationships, and getting back into the school routine—we also successfully navigated the first week of Kansas’ new bell-to-bell personal electronic device law with ZERO INFRACTIONS! 🎉📵
Kansas House Bill 2299, signed into law by Governor Laura Kelly on March 19, 2026, requires K–12 schools to implement a bell-to-bell restriction on personal electronic devices beginning with the 2026–27 school year.
And our Lions ROSE TO THE CHALLENGE! 🦁🔥
Our students demonstrated responsibility, self-discipline, and a willingness to adapt to a new expectation. Our staff did an outstanding job helping students understand the expectations and creating a positive environment where everyone could focus on what matters most—learning, connecting, and being present.

🚌 Buses are currently en route and will transport students home as scheduled.
If you have any questions or need to make alternate arrangements, please contact the school immediately at 620-642-2215.
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Please stay safe and weather-aware.

🚨 Track & Field Update 🚨
Due to the weather and the resulting conditions of the track and field, Elk Valley Middle School will be withdrawing from the Altoona-Midway meet scheduled for tomorrow.
At this time, the majority of events have been canceled, making it necessary for us to drop out of the meet. This decision allows us to find another meet so all student-athletes can participate to their fullest in the events they are passionate about.
We will work to reschedule and replace the Altoona meet as soon as possible and will share updates when they become available.
